The Ohio Department of Insurance's mission is to provide consumer protection through education and fair but vigilant regulation while promoting a stable and competitive environment for insurers. To help accomplish that goal, the Department has a number of avenues for consumers to get answers to their questions.
For consumers with questions about insurance or their current policies, the Department has a Consumer Services Division (CSD). CSD fields thousands of calls each year and assists policyholders navigate the complaint process when necessary. For consumers with questions about Medicare, the Department has an Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) offering support and advice to Medicare enrollees. To contact OSHIIP, call 1-800-686-1578 or email oshiipmail@insurance.ohio.gov.

The Department of Insurance also has a Regulatory Ombudsman. The ombudsman acts as a liaison between the agency and those affected by its rules and processes. For example, the ombudsman is here to assist consumers who have reached out to the Department, but have not been able to resolve their issue.
