“Think Again” Initiative Makes Insurance Lifestyle-Relevant for Millennials

Enjoy Life. Make Memories. Get Coverage.

COLUMBUS – Many of life’s defining events occur between the ages of 18 and 35, yet young adults and insurance products are not always well acquainted. Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor’s “Think Again” initiative seeks to demystify the necessity and affordability of insurance by providing engaging conversation topics and resources for young adults.
“Some young professionals believe they don’t need insurance because they have few assets and are in good health, but the reality is one unfortunate event could put them and their loved ones in financial hardship,” said Taylor, also director of the Ohio Department of Insurance.
And, once the millennials have taken care of their own needs, Taylor urges them to engage their parents and grandparents to learn whether those loved ones are as prepared as necessary.  These types of personal conversations can help older family members re-evaluate their long-term insurance and financial goals while helping millennials sharpen their own view of future needs.
Millennials’ value of financial flexibility, life balance and access to cash flow are considered in the “Think Again” material the department has placed online to assist them.
The department’s “Think Again” resource kit includes:
  • Life stage conversation topics
  • Detailed infographic(s)
  • Record keeping checklists
The “Think Again” insurance initiative helps young adults plan for the unexpected, organize their important documents and share what they have learned with loved ones.
