Lt. Governor Taylor Announces OSHIIP “Welcome to Medicare” Event

Educational session set for Tuesday, July 19 at 1 p.m. at Auglaize County Council on Aging

COLUMBUS Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor announced the Department’s Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) is hosting a “Welcome to Medicare” event on Tuesday, July 19 starting at 1 p.m. at the Auglaize County Council on Aging as part of their Today’s Senior Living program. The facility is located at 610 Indiana Ave., St. Marys, Ohio.

“This event is a great opportunity for new beneficiaries to talk face-to-face with our staff about Medicare benefits,” Taylor said. “We will be in Auglaize County to help citizens there transition into new health insurance coverage and to address any questions or concerns they may have.”

OSHIIP provides unbiased information and counseling to people covered by Medicare. This event, led by OSHIIP trainer Lynn Heskett, provides a chance for those who just joined Medicare and soon-to-be beneficiaries to learn the basics of the program, the benefits it provides, and deadlines they have to meet. Information will also be shared about supplemental insurance policies, Medicare Advantage plans and prescription drug coverage.

For more information about the event, please call 419-394-8252.

Additional information about Medicare is available at www.medicare.gov and by calling 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
