COLUMBUS — Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor named Michael Farley Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs where he will lead the Department’s legislative program, regularly interfacing with the Ohio General Assembly, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
“Michael’s experience in government relations and as a legislative liaison makes him a valuable asset for the Department of Insurance” said Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor. “Michael will play an important role in the formulation of legislation that will regulate the Ohio Insurance industry.”
Before joining the Insurance Department’s executive staff, Farley spent four years as the Director of Government and External Relations for the American Red Cross, representing the organization before Ohio government and the state’s Congressional delegation. Farley also served as a Legislative Liaison for former Governor Bob Taft and Legislative Aide in the Ohio House of Representatives.
“I am excited to once again be serving the citizens of Ohio and look forward to helping and protecting them through my work at the Department of Insurance,” said Farley, a former public administration adjunct instructor at Otterbein College.
Farley has a B.A. from the University of Akron, a Master of Public Administration from the Ohio University and is pursuing his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School.
Farley, originally from Orrville, and his wife, Erin, reside in Worthington, with their two children.
